In order to make the 9:50am ferry from Melbu to Fiskebol, we decided to skip breakfast and make a hard push for it first thing in the morning. Waking up at 7:45am, we packed up in our fastest time yet, leaving at 8:30am. We made it the 22km to the ferry just as the ferry opened its doors to passengers!
We had a rather miserly morning in the rain, but pushing through anyways. We waited all the way until kilometre 80, where we restocked with food from the supermarket “Kiwi” and had a 4pm lunch. In order to satisfy Viki’s vegetable desire and my protein desire, we settled on a can of tomatoes with 4 eggs. It was rather grim.
We biked to kilometre 110, really pushing to empty in order to make to “A” (yes, that’s the name of a town) by tomorrow. Here we decided to set up camp at a roadside rest area with bathrooms and warm water. We “showered” and washed our clothes in the handicapped washroom. It feels nice to be clean after such a rain-soaked day!
