Welcome to our blog! As you can probably see by now, we’re Andrew and Viki and want to share our travels with you. In 2019 we moved to Vancouver and regained full time jobs, but still aim to go on adventures. See the daily diary of our most recent month away, in September 2020, as we spent a month cycling 3000km from the south to north of Europe in our Europe Cycle Tour.
Andrew – I’m 30. I currently worked for IHS Markit Vancouver as a Financial Engineer. Previously I worked for a financial risk management consultancy for six years. I worked three years in Chicago, two years in London, and a year in Singapore. It was a great experience, working with banks from all over the world, but in July 2018 I finally decided it was time to take some time away from work to see more of the world.
Viki – I’m 27. I now work as a frontend Lead Software Developer at Trulioo in Vancouver. Previously I was a software developer in London for three years. I absolutely love what I do and am happy to still be able to go on the big trips that I’ve always wanted to do. Plus, I still get to develop the blog!
We met in London in 2017 and have been inseparable since. While in London we travelled lots on the weekends. We’d typically leave to the airport straight from work on a Friday, then one or two days off work and return on a Monday/Tuesday evening. From December 2017 through June 2018 we had around eight trips away together, to Gothenburg for the Christmas market, to Ramsau Am Dachstein for cross country skiing, to Vilnius to see the Baltics, to Bath for Andrew’s birthday, to Costa Blanca climbing with the LSE climbing club, to Scotland with Viki’s parents, to Trondheim to go hiking, and to Cyprus for Viki’s birthday.
For our four month’s travelling we planned two big trips. We first embarked on our Norway cycle tour for the month of August. We then flew to Vancouver, setting off on our Central America road trip, driving a circuit from Vancouver to El Salvador and back, for the next three months.
After a month of skiing, we’re now starting a life together in Vancouver. We’d love to have you follow along – you can subscribe to our update emails and comment on any of our posts as we go.
