We woke up and Viki decided she wanted to fly home to Canada. We didn\u2019t do that, but pressed slowly on towards Dunkirk, teary-eyed.<\/p>\n<p>We had a fierce headwind the whole day (50km\/h from the south and we were heading southwest). Viki also got two flats. We were expecting to catch the 9:48am short hourly ferry between islands, but didn\u2019t make it until 11:48am. For much of the day we were going 10km\/h, feeling like we were going nowhere. It rained much of the day and stayed around 10 degrees. We were pretty cold.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t until 4pm that we stopped for lunch in Brugge, having only ridden 60km. The town was really pretty, with cute houses, canals, state buildings, and narrow streets.<\/p>\n<p>The final few hours brought us through expanses of farmland, where the wind continued to howl.
