Where we last left off, the sky had turned black and the heavens unleashed upon us along with gale force winds. This then subsided for a while, but returned around 2am. Viki thought the tent was going to break. Fortunately it didn\u2019t, we fell back asleep, and all was well.<\/p>\n<p>We awoke to chilly temperatures and continued wind, setting off for 18km (after some plain bread for first breakfast) to Saverne, where we each had two pastries and a coffee.<\/p>\n<p>The Eurovelo route then took us along a canal for nearly the entire day. The first 60km we travelled west, into a mix of headwind and sidewind. We had lunch in a bus shelter (the high today was only 12C) and had to throw out our salami after finding it covered in ants.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the day was much better, with a tailwind as we headed north.
