We awoke to seeing sunrise from the tent with a couple hot air balloons on the horizon. We departed at 8am without breakfast and finished our climb from yesterday evening and then had a wonderful decent &#8211; gradual and long. Breakfast was outside the church of Manosque, at 9am, right as the church bells were ringing and the congregation was congregating.<\/p>\n<p>Morning coffee was in the quaint town of Greox les Bains, where we sat at a cafe table overlooking the bustling town square. We had another quick stop for a croissant in Valensole, before continuing on. The route brought us through tens of kilometers of lavender fields, along a high plateau before descending down to the base of the Verdon Gorge. Here, at the huge and busy lake \u201cSaint Croix Du Verdon\u201d we had our tomato and cheese baguettes.<\/p>\n<p>The final section of the day was a massive hill, 900m, up high above the lake and above the Verdon Gorge. Fortunately temperature dropped a bit, from the earlier 32C high, and the views were spectacular.<\/p>\n<p>We ended the day by having dinner out for our first time this trip. We shared the stewed beef and the leg of lamb and both were a tad bit better than our standard bolognese rice. Our table was literally at the edge of the canyon.
