TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE MEMORANDUM

Date: April 29, 1997
To: All members of the Technology Committee
From: Bill Maurer
Subject: Minutes of meeting held on April 29, 1997
cc: Jim Robertson - Chairman of the Board

The second teacher training evening was held this evening. Amar gave a session on Word, Geoff gave a session on Publisher, and I gave one on Front Page. All teachers were present.

After the training session a brief meeting was held and attended by Sharon Vipond, Chris Funston, and myself.

Sharon received another quote from Anchor Smart which was lower than the previous quotes but still higher than the TuffNut quote. It was still felt that a cage solution was not required for any of the computers and that the TuffNut cable solution was more secure than the Anchor Smart cable solution. The portability of the computers is an important component of the school's computer architecture and this security measure is seen as an impediment to daytime snatch and grab type thefts. The school's alarm system is still the primary defense against robberies which might occur after school hours. We agreed to proceed with the TuffNut order.

Sharon presented teacher administration software called PlanIt for which a trial CD could be purchased for $10. This aquisition was approved.
