TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE MEMORANDUM

Welcome, or welcome back, to the Parent Advisory Committee on Technology.

I thought it might be useful to provide our new members with a brief history of the School's computer systems and an outline of our current plans. First, however, I want to set out my take on the terms of reference of our committee.

The purpose of the Technology Committee is to provide advice to the Board on the most appropriate ways to address the School's systems, computing services, telecommunications and office equipment needs. These needs are defined by the School's educational approach and objectives, and by its administrative requirements.

Our committee will provide expertise and recommendations with respect to the types of systems and applications available, as well as the future direction of technology and its impacts on the school; however recommendations on how and to what extent technology should be used within the curriculum will come from the Curriculum committee.
