Dear Parents
Two teams from Mulgrave will this weekend, travel with their coaches, Ms. Rees and Mrs. Tetiker, as well as their parent managers, to compete in the Provincial finals of the Odyssey of the Mind competition. The team presenting "Can you Dig It?" comprise Alexandra Chan, Michael Roethe, Jonathan Miller, Joel Thompson (all G.5) together with two G.4 students Graydon Tullis and Ashley Taunton.
Our "Omerdroid" team members are Farah Kassam, Charlsey Anthony (G.5), Kalim Kassam and Aaron Bolus in G.4 and Olivia Vipond in G.3. Andrew Robertson and his twin, Christopher, were members of these teams and participated at Richmond; they will not be in Kelowna this weekend, but they were very involved team players in two very successful teams.
Winning teams at Kelowna will compete in the World Odyssey of the Mind competition which will be held in Maryland, U.S.A. on June 4, 5 and 6th. We wish our teams great good luck and fun; I know that as always, they will give of their best.
THANK YOU MR. & MRS. COLLISTER! (James, K)
At extremely short notice, Mr. & Mrs. Collister very generously created and donated Mulgrave T-shirts for all Odyssey of the Mind competitors.
CHOIR
Our Festival Choir is taking part in the Kiwanis Choral Festival on Friday,
April 4. The choir will be very fortunate to work with, distinguished adjudicators, including a renowned choral director from Florida as well as a clinician from Disneyland's Magic Music Days programme. They sang for us at Thursday's assembly and uplifted our spirits for the day.
OLIVER
All the young actors involved in our production have been given rehearsal schedules until May when we will 'review the situation'. Please let us know if these schedules have gone a-missing!
It is very important indeed that all performers know their lines and their music, and as our partners in the educational process, I appreciate your support, and listening ear (as well as prompting voice!) in this regard. Drama is a discipline as well as a joy and like all our curricular offerings it is a strong thread in the Mulgrave weave. Those of you who were privileged to hear some of our soloists at Thursday's assembly will know and appreciate how hard our performers are working, and how very well they sound. Finally, please ensure that your children are present at all rehearsals in which they are involved. Every-one is important in our production - think how frustrating it is to work with a jigsaw which has missing pieces!

RECESS/LUNCH IN THE PARK
From time to time we would like to take the children over to the local park, and would appreciate your signing a 'blanket' permission form so that we may do that legitimately, and spontaneously. Please return your completed forms to your child's classroom teacher by Tuesday, April 8, 1997.
WRESTLING AT MULGRAVE
Term 3 began for Grades 3, 4 and 5 with an inspirational presentation (courtesy of Mr. Shepard, President & C.E.O. of Finning Ltd) by Chris Wilson, eight time Canadian Wrestling Champion, member of the Canadian Olympic team, and Gold medalist at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria.
His droll wit, powerful athleticism and charm captured us all as an audience. Quoting from his wise mother, Mr. Wilson reminded us that winners are not born winners, and nor are losers born losers, rather are we all choosers! At Mulgrave, we choose to fly.
Have a great weekend!
Linda Hamer
Headmistress
I hereby give permission to the Teachers of Mulgrave school to escort my child to the local park to participate in recess or lunchtime activities.
