Dear Parents,

CHRISTMAS POT-POURRI

We are looking forward to our first presentation at the Centennial Theatre next Monday evening. Those parents who have listened to the musical performances of our children at the Friday assemblies, have had a delicious taste of delights in store.

Please note: Parents who are driving the children to the Centennial Theatre for our dress rehearsal on Monday after-noon will be required to leave the school at 12:40 p.m. We are arranging for the children to have an early lunch, and time for play before a concentrated, technical dress rehearsal. We would appreciate drivers being very punctual since every rehearsal minute is precious. After the rehearsal, the children are required to be collected from the theatre at 3:15 p.m. to be driven back to school in time for normal dismissal time of 3:30 p.m.

ALL STUDENTS must be at the theatre by 6:30 p.m. on Monday evening. The performance begins at 7:00 p.m., and will last approximately 2 hours. There will be one twenty minute intermission, during which time children will not be permitted to be in front of the stage, since they will be involved in changing stage settings and becoming calm, mentally prepared choristers/musicians.

We would appreciate the children bringing a BOX drink ONLY (No fizzy drinks please!) with them as a refreshment during intermission, and hope that all parents will respect the request that they not come back-stage mid-performance. We will look after your children, as always, and our aim is to enjoy a very happy, peaceful second act.

UNIFORMS

Our children should be looking their absolute best, of course. Girls should have their hair tied back or braided, so that we can all see their faces; kilt pins should be worn pointing downwards (there seems to be some confusion regarding direction!). We feel that wearing a blazer as well as a sweater might result in sweltering bodies, so would like the students in Grades 2 to 5 to wear blazers only. Ties, naturally, must be worn by all boys and by all students in Grades 2 to 5.

Mrs. Koenig (Lauren-G.1, Sean-G.3) has informed me that LESTER CLEANERS, 124 E. 14th St., North Vancouver are offering Mulgrave School the same consideration that they have traditionally offered Collingwood School: Blazers cost $2.50, whilst kilts are cleaned for $3.99. If the uniforms are in the cleaners by 10:00 a.m. even on Saturday, they can be collected by 3:00 p.m. on the same afternoon.

SOCCER CLUB

for K, Grade 1 and 2

With the Christmas Pot-pourri approaching, soccer club for K, Grade 1 and 2 will be cancelled on Monday, December 9. The soccer club will conclude on Monday December 16. Mrs. Bryant and Mr. Fischer would like to thank the enthusiastic participants of the club who unfailingly turned up every week, filled with energy, good sportsmanship, and an eagerness to learn the skills of dribbling, passing, shooting, heading and throw-ins.

SQUASH CLUB

Thank-you to our squash Dads, Mr. Pirani (Nabila-G.5, Safeeya-K) and Mr. Penn (Nicholas-G.1) for demonstrating how the game of squash is played for our squash club members. The match was closely contested, with Mr. Pirani's shot-making skills challenging Mr. Penn's defensive play and stamina. Group 1 members will start lessons next Thursday.

KIDS CARE CLUB

Our Christmas food drive is well under way. Thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Ayers (Brandon, G.2) for supplying wrapped boxes for each class. Mr. Wheelwright (Alexandra, G.1) for emptying his piggy-bank, and to all of you for bringing in much needed food donations. The Kids Care Club members are thrilled to see their Harvest Project tins filling up with coffee donations. We will continue to collect food and money right through till Monday, December 16, so we can deliver it all before the holidays.

MARKET RESEARCH ASSISTANCE

The Strategic Planning Committee is preparing a survey of Mulgrave parents and prospective parents to determine their thoughts on several issues which are important for our school's long term planning process. We are looking for assistance from any parent who may have expertise in the area of market surveys for purposes of giving guidance as to the form and manner in which questions of this nature should be posed. Should anyone in the parent body have this expertise or have experience or expertise with market surveys generally and be prepared to volunteer what we expect is a relatively small amount of time to give our committee some guidance we would appreciate you letting us know, by either contacting John Koenig at 929-6839 or Joan Grant at the school. We look forward to hearing from you.

I Remember, I Remember

I remember when my Dad got really sick
I remember flying to Los Angeles
I remember the needles of acupuncture

I remember playing basketball with my Dad
I remember swimming every day
I remember the hot sunny days
I remember my Dad getting better
I remember coming home

My eighth Birthday
Having a hockey party

I remember, I remember
Playing in the snow
I threw snowballs at my
two brothers Shane and Bijan

I remember, I remember
Going bike riding
In Stanley Park.

I remember, I remember
Warm hot bubbles baths
When I was a baby

I Remember I Remember

I remember, I remember
Going on a ferry
To Victoria

I remember, I remember
Meeting new friends.

I remember, I remember
Joining Mulgrave School

I remember, I remember
Sharing the laughter
And my joy at Christmas time

I remember, I remember
Wanting, and still would
Like to be, a hockey player
or goalie

I remember, I remember my first time on skis,
I remember, I remember I slid with one ski,
I remember, I remember sliding and falling into
the fluffy snow
I remember, I remember gliding down my first hill,
I remember, I remember when the snow was too deep
for me to ski.
