Dear Parents
FAMILY MATH PROBLEM # 2
Sarah and Curtis are playing a card game. At the end of each game the loser pays the winner 10¢. After several games, Sarah has 50¢ more than she started with and Curtis has won exactly 4 games. How many games have been played?
Answers to Mrs. Grant in the office please!
READING WORKSHOP THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10
If you are interested in attending this first curriculum workshop, please complete and return the attached form by Tuesday, October 8, to your child's classroom teacher. The workshop will be presented by the Primary team, Mrs. Vipond and myself, and will be held from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. (approximately) in the Assembly Room. ALL PARENTS are welcome!
PUNCTUALITY
Please be prompt in collecting your children at either 3:20 p.m. (K) or 3:30 (G.1-5). If you are going to be a few minutes late, please do let the office know. We are responsible for the safety of our children until they are handed into parental or designated guardian arms; we have thus told the children that if their parents are late, they should wait quietly in their classrooms, or in the front reception area. They are NOT allowed to play unsupervised on the front deck. We run many co-curricular clubs as you are, of course aware, after 3:30 p.m., and the teachers are instantly plunged into these new activities. They are thus unavailable for supervision
DROP OFF IN THE MORNING
A parent this week informed me that she witnessed one of our children running heedlessly across the road to school, neither looking to the left nor the right. Please do ensure that you either escort the younger children, or park on this side of the street. There is, by the way, always ample underground parking at the North Shore Winter Club for Mulgrave families to use.
MUSICAL NOTES
Musical Acquisitions
As our school expands, so do our facilities. This term, we are very pleased to have added various percussion instruments. We've begun our instrumentarium of barred pitched instruments with a number of glockenspiels. Assorted drums, tambourines and other non-pitched instruments have also been acquired. Some of these instruments will no doubt be seen and heard in action at the Christmas performance. In addition to instruments, a number of music stands have been added to our collection of equipment, as has a new piano bench, these items thanks to generous donations. (Mrs. Funston (Cody G.1, Krystle G.3) and Dr. Clarance (Conor, K and Tessa, G.2) respectively.
Looking to the future, we hope to further build our instrumentarium, both for classroom use and in terms of a band program. Over the long term, we'd also like to acquire risers and acoustic shells, integral to fine performances, musical and otherwise. In the meantime, the music program will expand in small increments with the acquisition of items such as music scores, books and recordings.
MONDAY MEETING - SEPTEMBER 30
It was good to see so many of you at last Monday's meeting. The Committee structure has met with great approval; for my part it spells a future of inclusion. If you are at all interested in joining any of the committees - please sign the forms on the notice board outside the office or return the relevant attached forms to Mrs. Grant, our secretary.
I would be happy to elucidate in person; the various chair people of the Committees are in the process, however, of outlining the aims and the parameters of each committee. First meetings will be held shortly; interested parties will be contacted so that they may attend inaugural sessions.

Thank you for your generous donations. Please keep them coming! We especially need more "adult" fancy bottles (i.e. alcoholic), as these are great crowd pleasers. If you can help us, thanks!
