Mulgrave School - History
Provincial operating status

Mulgrave School is controlled by the Mulgrave Independent School Society, a nonprofit organization constituted under the Society Act of British Columbia. It is a registered charity, and thus is able to benefit from fundraising events, an invaluable and essential method of subsidizing operations.

The amount of the Provincial Subsidy funding for the year 1995/96 was 50% of the per pupil operating cost in School District 44 (North Vancouver) for each Grade 1 - 4 Mulgrave student. Then, as now, kindergarten students are in receipt of only half the funding, since in the Public Schools, kindergarten is half time education. We were able to maintain this level of funding in the early years of Mulgrave, largely because of the school's very small origins. Now that Mulgrave is significantly larger, the funding will become mainstreamed with the vast majority of independent school, who value educational excellence over administrative costs and this will yield a 35% funding subsidy for students in Grade 1 - 5 in 1996/97.
